Larry Gandee

 Coached Gwynn Park for 12 years, tallying a coaching record of 237-74. Led the program to eight state title games, winning six state championships. Inducted into the Glenville State College Athletic Hall of Fame, and an original member of the Prince George’s County Athletic Hall of Fame.  

  Spent over three decades mentoring young athletes in Brandywine, Maryland. As the founder of the Brandywine Recreational Council, he helped shape future Gwynn Park basketball stars. His influence is reflected in the school’s ten state championship banners and lasting program success. 

 The youngest son of Howard Matthews, Steve coached Gwynn Park for 14 seasons, earning 240 wins, six state title appearances, and the school’s first #1 Washington Post ranking. Coached in the Capital Classic and 13 of his players from Gwynn Park earned Division I basketball scholarships.
