I lived this story....
I created Beyond Banners to honor the Gwynn Park basketball program that helped shape me. I played for Steve Matthews and wanted to preserve the legacy of a program built over generations.
Along the way, I learned there was a much deeper story that needed to be told. The film became an exploration of how transfers, school choice, and NIL payments are reshaping high school sports and the communities built around them.
I hope that Beyond Banners sparks a more nuanced conversation about opportunity, tradition, and what communities stand to lose as the landscape of high school sports continues to change.
